Crocus stayed with us quite unexpectedly. Every time we found him a new owner, some unforeseen circumstance arose, and in the meantime he continued to grow up in our garden. Perhaps it was a sign of fate. The name I chose for him was Crocus, but a small mistake was made when he was entered in the studbook, and he became Crodus. At six months old, he was due to travel to the USA to live with his new owner, but we could not agree on the contractual terms. As I was concerned that I might completely lose any say in his future, I informed his prospective owner that Crocus would remain in Europe. In the meantime, Crocus became Adam’s favourite dog, and Adam began practising the first elements of Junior Handling with him. Then, as fate would have it, Amaryllis suffered a serious leg injury that required surgery and lengthy rehabilitation—and Crocus was still with us. He attended shows, completed all his health examinations with excellent results and even passed his breeding assessment. It took me a long time to finally say, “All right—he is staying with us.”

Crocus is a powerful representative of the breed. He is strongly built, with substantial bone, a broad jaw and nose, strong teeth, and a very abundant, dense black coat. He carries himself with great confidence, has a lively temperament and certainly does not lack libido. Genetic testing has confirmed that he can also pass on the gene for a white coat.

Crocus is available at stud. We can also arrange the collection and shipment of chilled or frozen semen.
